Myrtle Beach Hotels up and down the coast welcomed the "The Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship" on April 25th, 26th and 27th of 2008.
450 surfers from Georgia to Delaware competed in swells all across the Grand Strand for an opportunity to participate in the Eastern Surfing Championships, coming up in September of this year. Tourists and locals were treated to witnessing some of the "most excellent" surfing that dazzled and awed those watching from the shore.
"This is a major league invent in the world of Surfing," said Dan Wenzel of Myrtle-Beach.com, a local public relations firm." "
Myrtle Beach Hotels are thrilled to see these young athletes arrive. This represents our beach well."
Each participant had already qualified through their districts for this weekend's competition in Myrtle Beach. The competition was fierce and the weather was perfect.
The Eastern Surfing Championships and The Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship are sponsored and conducted by the Eastern Surfing Association which is the world's largest amateur surfing association.
