ROADS TO AVOID

1. HIGHWAY 501 from COASTAL CAROLINA COLLEGE TO HARD ROCK PARK at George Bishop Parkway. See our helpful time saving map
Why: This road is one giant parking lot all year long. Traffic here moves in inches. Work around this area all you can.

How to avoid this road:

If you are heading East (South) on Highway 501 and traveling Downtown, North, or South, we suggest you take Highway 22 East just beyond Aynor, S.C. OPTIONS SOUTH: If traveling South to Downtown Myrtle Beach, Surfside, Garden City or Murrells Inlet take a right onto the the Highway 31 South exit. OPTIONS NORTH: If you are traveling North to Lakeshore Drive, Barefoot Landing Resorts, or North Myrtle Beach, S.C. take Highway 22 to where it ends at Highway 17.

Highway Bypass 17 South from Coastal Grand Mall to Murrells Inlet from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Why: Traffic heading South in the afternoon is bumper to bumper. There is usually a 35 minute delay.

How to avoid this road:

If you are heading South to Coastal Grand Mall, use Bob Grissom South.

If you are heading South to Murrells Inlet, take Highway 17 Business.

If you are heading to Litchfield, Pawleys Island or Georgetown: Take Highway 31 South to Highway 544 East to Business Highway 17 South. Business Highway 17 South will merge into Highway 17 Bypass at the end of Murrells Inlet.
