Reasons: This area has absolutely no development on it at all. The beaches are private and out of the way. The natural results are uncommonly quiet and natural beaches.

Consistently the highest water quality ratings from state government agencies.

Huntington Beach State Park has little artificial lighting in the area and has no jet skis, banner planes, or near the shore ocean traffic. You will only find natural things on this Oceanfront Beach.

2.Surfside Beach from 3rd Avenue North through Garden City Beach to Inlet Point Drive

Three reasons why:

This area has few hotels and is lined with beach homes. The natural results are less congested beaches.

Consistently high water quality ratings from state government agencies.

These beaches are not as cluttered with jet skis, banner planes, and near the shore ocean traffic.

3. Myrtle Beach from 82nd Avenue North to 29th Avenue North

Reasons:

This stretch of Oceanfront in Myrtle Beach is known as the Golden Mile. It has less traffic, is lined largely with Oceanfront Beach Home rentals, and has fewer people on the beach itself.

There will be life guard stands and some vendors and a few high rise hotels, but water quality is consistently high.

Banner Planes do fly overhead in the Summer promoting products and local stores, but Parasailing and Jet Skis in this area are rare.

4. 46th Avenue South in North Myrtle Beach at Barefoot Resort

Reasons:

Private Oceanfront Beaches with largely only Barefoot Resort Customers and North Beach Plantation Customers.

Consistently High Water Quality

Barefoot Resort shuttles guests to the beach. When staying at Barefoot Resort with its shops and attractions, there is no need for a use of your car, which cuts down on Highway Traffic.

5. Oak Island, North Carolina: Oak Island Map
Reasons:

“Mayberry meets Jimmy Buffet!” Traffic in and out can be harsh on turnover days, but once there, traffic issues are mild.

Banner Planes are outlawed and the beach front is largely filled with Houses for rent. The natural results are less crowded beaches and more privacy.

The beach front atmosphere feels like the recent past, before high rises and mega anythings.

Water quality on this beach is excellent.

Myrtle Waves Water Park located on the corner of 10th Avenue North and Highway 17 bypass, features the area’s best water park rides including the “Ocean in Motion” wave pool, the Lay Zee river ride that meanders throughout and around the medium sized park, Saturation Station, an interactive water play structure with a tipping bucket, and an array of exciting water slides. Kids love the saturation station, especially the little tikes between the ages of toddler to nine. Some of Myrtle Waves’ most requested rides are the Turbo Twisters. These are the world’s tallest wild enclosed body slides that twist and turn Earthward. The rides are very dark and the rider never knows when the next twist or turn is coming. The one hundred foot tall Turbo Twisters are an imposing sight from the launching area. Its spaghetti-bowl of three interconnecting purple slides look impossibly steep and twisty. As riders walk up the steps to the launching area sounds of muffled screams echoing from inside the slides add to the suspense. Without any visual cues, it’s impossible to get a sense where the ride is heading and hard to determine the speed–but rest assured it’s fast and deliriously fun. From the get-go, riders tear out, but when they navigate one of the tubes’ nearly vertical dips, they REALLY pick up speed. The splash ramp at the end of the ride makes for a soft and slow exit.

The Arooba Tooba at Myrtle Waves is a spinning “toilet bowl” ride. Riders finally get a chance to feel what it is like to be a flushed gold fish. The ride circles in a frantic downward motion in a wet and thrilling fashion. Lines for the Aruba Tooba attraction can get long.

The Ocean Motion water park is a great place to soak up the sun, catch a wave, or just hang out and eat from one of the many Myrtle Waves Theme park vendors nearby. Snow Cones are great in those mid Summer days, and Myrtle Waves Snow cones are a rare blend of sweet that makes the experience all the more memorable.

If you have the heart for it, make sure to roar down one of the major “Free Fall” slides that sit at the tenth avenue side of the theme park. This is a no holes barred, zero to sixty free fall that will leave your heart in your throat and your body soaked. Don’t blink on this one.

The park charges a one day admission and does run many specials with kids getting half off during some slower periods.
