Myrtle Beach hotel owner passes

Myrtle Beach Hotels on the South end of Myrtle Beach, SC said good-bye to Chick Ammons of the Sea Mist Resort on February 5, 2008.

For over 3 decades, Chick had seen the resort grow as it was first managed by her father Jason, then her brother Neal, and in the recent few years her nieces and their husbands.

Chick was a free Spirit who threw legendary parties at the Sea Oats and Tides pools of the Sea Mist Resorts Oceanfront area. Her friends loved her and she lived life with a full heart. She was 53 years old. (more…)

Hotels in Myrtle Beach post low golf numbers

Myrtle Beach Hotels saw numbers dip across the board for golf related business in the first quarter of 2008. The months of January, February, and March revealed a significant change in the way the golf business in Myrtle Beach, SC has evolved.

While overall numbers were down, Myrtle Beach Hotels that were leveraged on the internet and targeted for key golf terms, like Myrtle Beach Golf, on the search engines actually saw increases in rounds. At this same time, independent Myrtle Beach Hotels who have not leveraged their website properties, experienced round decreases that neared the point of little or no business. (more…)

The mass market media era officially ended this past December and we are fully ushered into the internet marketing age where corrupt business practices are now openly exposed to customers and potential customers in advance. With gas prices unsteady, and low consumer confidence, the Myrtle Beach area chamber of commerce and most tourism related businesses are banking on the possibility that consumers will do what elected officials have predicted – purchase a last minute vacation with this year’s May tax rebate check.
