Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, SC officially opened on April 15, 2008.

Over $450 million was originally invested by the Rank Group, headquartered in London, England, in this Myrtle Beach Theme park with over 50 ride attractions.   The new owners have paid $25 million and are re-opening in May.

The 140 acre Myrtle Beach theme park opened to a brisk 44 degree temperature on a day when most Americans were thinking about tax deadlines.Hard Rock Theme Park features Myrtle Beach roller coasters, shows, children’s play areas, Hard rock park themed restaurants, cafes and Hard rock park and related retail stores. Hard Rock Park will also feature a live music amphitheater.

Mecca is their bingo operator in the United Kingdom with 117 bingo clubs and more than 5 million members.

Today,  almost one year to the date,  Free Style Music Park was officially named to replace the now bankrupt former property.   Free Style Music Park will feature over 50 thrill rides and attractions with music venues and a more dynamically charged family environment.

The owners have retained the Brandon Agency to market the resort theme park under the leadership of John Stein who works directly for the park ownership.

All indications are that the new park concept will be much more family friendly as the park now maintains strong local support.  Ticket prices that ran $50 per person last season,  will average $38 this season, with parking now reduced to $8 per vehicle.

A state-of-the-art sound systems was designed specifically for the theme park and the venue holds a vast collection of unique memorabilia pieces from the history of rock ‘n’ roll including cars and oversized concert stage props as “the Myrtle Beach Amusement park will reflect Hard Rock’s commitment to music, featuring six unique, custom-designed zones celebrating rock’s culture, lifestyle, legends and irreverence.

In April 2008, Governor Mark Sanford, of South Carolina, said in a prepared statement that Hard Rock Park “represents the largest single investment in tourism infrastructure in South Carolina’s history.”

Included in the project’s design is a bridge linking Free Style Music Park to Highway 17 at the Coastal Grand Mall. The building of what will be called the Fantasy Harbour bridge is expected to be completed this year and will offer Myrtle Beach vacationers another access across the Intracoastal Waterway directly into the theme park.

The park offers music concert venue opportunities the popular roller coaster ride formerly known as Led Zeppelin, the ride. This roller coaster excites thrill seekers as it does flips, twirls and spins. This ride is all about speed, dips, twists, and spins.

Make sure to spend a day at Free Style Music Park if you are planning a Myrtle Beach Resort vacation in 2008.
