Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotels found new hope in a sluggish and overdeveloped tourism industry the week of April 15, 2008, with the soft opening of the Sound Check season at the new Hard Rock Theme Park in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Hard Rock Theme Park is calling the weeks that run from April 15th to May 15, 2008 its sound check season as a way to start a soft opening and train its staff. Visitors are limited daily and new employees are getting valuable on the job training in working out any bugs for the grand opening June 1st and June 2nd. Hard Rock Park will feature legendary 70's group, The Eagles, in concert during this official opening.
Myrtle Beach Hotels have seen numbers off by as much as 40% in early Spring 2008. The real estate boom earlier this decade caused massive over development of Oceanfront Myrtle Beach condos. This, coupled with rising fuel costs, has caused occupancy rates in Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Hotels to plummet. Condo owners and Oceanfront Hotel managers are hoping that Hard Rock Park will be the shot in the arm to help boost rentals this Summer 2008.
The theme park features a concert venue, Led Zeppelin, The Ride roller Coaster, Moody Blues, The Trip roller coaster, and several venues including Lost in the 70's, Cool Country, as well as, Born in the U.S.A. Each should be crowd pleasers. The theme park is Hard Rock's first venture into such a business operation. The brand is best known for its casinos and cafe operations.
