Reputable Myrtle Beach Hotels will not rent to adults under the age of 25 as a rule. As most Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotels are property managed, homeowners who own the individual condo, usually do not want younger guests having parties in their rooms.

There are a few Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Hotels that do rent to teenagers on Spring Break, however, and often at perilious costs to the guests and the hotel itself. Hotels, like the Poindexter Resort in downtown Myrtle Beach, SC, who have a history of renting to teenagers often find the Myrtle Beach police regularly dropping by the hotel responding to calls.

Spring 2008 saw one drunken Charlotte, NC teenager falling from the tower at the Bay View Resort.

As portrayed in the "Girls Gone Wild" infomercials aired late night on cable, Spring Break can be a raucous time. Mix alcohol, drugs, teenagers, and a beach and there is sure to be trouble. Myrtle Beach, for the most part is not known to attract Spring Break teenagers and college students like Daytona Beach, Cancun, Mexico or several other Florida area beaches.

Myrtle Beach is primarily known as a family beach and high end resorts like Barefoot Resort in Myrtle Beach will only take families and golfers. In fact only a few Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Resorts are known to take Spring Break students.

Myrtle Beach has been blessed to have so few accidents and trouble over the past 50 years. With its family oriented reputation, few Spring Break students find the area attractive, despite new thrill parks like Hard Rock Theme Park.

City fathers and City Officials continue to work hard to keep the area family oriented and family friendly.
